DECE-what the companystands for

When we were first given this project in our groups, the first task I, as an illustrator was given, was to put down in the form of a story line what exactly DECE was and what they achieved in Romania.
Dece is small profit making company that teaches women in Romania to sew and in doing so they can support their families whil still being able to look after their children. The money they earn from their goods can buy them food, fire wood, pay for the education or the health of their children.

This is a sketch that shows how the women stich products for Dece which they are paid for, which in turn can pay for fire wood to keep them warm.

After the story bord I briefly started looking at character forms that could be used on DECEs website or possible catalouges that could model the Romanian womens work without taking away from the product.
I started looking at very basic character shapes and decided on these little guys:

I then went on to play around with fitting these characters into images from the internet of some of the outdoor/sporting activities that are potentially the target audience for the DECE products.

(The thinner line drawings are the most up to date ideas I have worked on.)
